New Town club manager sparks change of match dish at pub

Ipswich Town fans can now get in the mood for a matchday at Portman Road - with a new hot meal at the Greyhound in tribute to the new Town manager.
The Big Mick burger meal is no more at the award-winning Greyhound, in Henley Road.
Instead, after a brief period `on trial’ - there is a new signing - the Paul Hurst CurryWurst meal.
Pub landlord Dan Lightfoot said they looked to customers for suggestions.
After discussions with the chefs, the Paul Hurst CurryWurst was produced; a specially produced Indian spiced sausage (from Proctors in The Walk), Ipswich, with salad, fried onions, chips and a curry sauce.

“It is based on a classic bratwurst and chips,” he said, “We tried it for the West Ham game, made a few tweaks, and then introduced it for the Blackburn game last Saturdy, and it went down really well.
“It will only be offered on match days.

“We did think about having a Hot Doig as well, but decided against it.
“The customers seem to like the Paul Hurst - hopefully he will come along and try one.”
Of course, in the interests of journalism the Ipswich Star team had to give it a try; they branded it: “very good, and not too hot”.
It also went down very well with a glass of lemonade.
The landlord said they liked to have a bit of fun with fans on match days.
He said: “A successful football club is important to the town. There is a new spirit of optimism in the town and Portman Road too.
“If people are coming to support the football team it impacts on the other businesses.
“We had a packed pub for the first game of the season; with takings 25% up on some games last season. People just like to be entertained.”
Sausage maker Simon Protheroe, owner of Proctors Speciality Sausages, has produced the sausages for the Greyhound, and will be selling them in his Ipswich shop as well.
“It is a lot of fun, absolutely,” he said, “they are fairly mild to medium spicy, with locally sourced pork.
“Let’s hope the team heats up as well.
“Perhaps the players should have one before the game?”
