UFS Ltd, which trades as Uniex Freight Services, has been named among the finalists in the BIFA (British International Freight Association) Freight Service Awards for the third year running.

Having been nominated in the European Logistics category in each of the last two years, UFS this time reached the last four of the Project Forwarding category, the winner being Spaial Global from Castle Donington, near Derby.

UFS sales manager David Cowell said that reaching the final of the awards for a third year was “a fantastic achievement for a family owned business, with the awards historically being dominated by large multinational freight companies”.

UFS, which is based in Lodge Way, Thetford, and has offices in Manchester and Dover, was founded in 1963 by Swiss national Hermann Anderwert as a specialist in UK-Switzerland services.

In 1984, when current owner and managing director Ray Ludlam joined the business, services to and from Holland, Belgium and Germany were added, with France being added in 2004.
