AN enterprising mother-of-two has set up her own travel agency business in Brandon.

Tracey Hannon took over empty premises in the town's Market Hill, after another travel agency business closed down towards the end of last year.

Along with her electrician husband Shaun, she has renovated the premises and opened up under the new name of Brandon Travel.

She has joined the United Co-op Travel Group's Freedom Travel Agents' Consortium, made up of more than 100 independent agencies around the country.

Mrs Hannon, aged 34, said she had not been involved in the industry before, but had a “great interest” in it, and was currently working towards an NVQ in travel and tourism.

“I worked as an administrative officer for the Ministry of Defence until I took time out to have a family,” she said.

“But when the old travel agency closed I thought there was a need in the market town for a new one. It seemed to be an opportunity to be had.

“It's been a big learning curve, but it's going well.”
