Tuddenham: Soil event planned for August

Improved soil management will be key to boosting food production in the long term, an event next month will show.

To help farmers and land managers, a specialist event will be held at the East of England Potato Day on August 30 by invitation of Frederick Hiam at Tuddenham, near Barton Mills.

The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board is working with Catchment Sensitive Farming to support the expertise and hard efforts of farming businesses with the latest research and soil information most relevant to their location.

The two-year Soils Partnership, which will feature around 70 events across the country, is getting the very best in soil and nutrient knowledge to cereal and potato growers, beef and sheep farmers and agronomists.

The programme includes workshops, focus groups and conferences.
