Felixstowe-based container transport company MacIntyre Transport has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Turners of Soham.
The deal will see MacIntyre remain as a stand-alone business, headed by current directors Paul Miller and Mike West, while substantially strengthening Turners’ position in the container transport market.
MacIntytre was formed in 2000 by Harvey MacIntyre, who had previously worked for two of the largest companies in the container transport sector.
The company was represented in the sale by East Anglian law firm Prettys, which has worked with MacIntyre for a number of years.
Mr MacIntyre, who is to stand down as chairman and retire from the business, said the company needed a law firm with expert industry knowledge to represent its interests.
“Finding the right buyer for Macintyre Transport was incredibly important and I knew that Prettys would represent the best interests of the company, staff and customers,” he added.
Ian Waine, head of corporate services at Prettys, said: “We have a long-standing close working relationship with MacIntyre Transport and in a deal of this scale it was essential to represent their best interests to ensure that the business can continue to grow under its new parent company.”
