Positive news on the Suffolk Park commercial development in Bury St Edmunds, as companies commit to Bury St Edmunds.

More than 50 members of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce were treated to a presentation from the developers of Suffolk Park in Bury St Edmunds with the development now going full speed ahead.

The 114-acre park with potential for 2m sq ft of business, logistics, and industrial space is well advanced. Flavourings company Treatt is building a 200,000 sq ft headquarters within the enterprise zone on the site

Another local company Sealey professional tools has bought a seven-acre site for expansion while two speculative units totalling 350,000 sq ft are under-construction and will be available for occupation from November this year, all the infra-structure, main estate road and landscaping have been installed and there are plans for further development to cater for demand.

Jonathan Lloyd of Hazells Chartered Surveyors said: “We are delighted with the progress that has been made. Developer Jaynic has confirmed their confidence in the market by building two speculative logistics units and are very much ahead of the competition in satisfying the pent-up demand for well-located space that will be ready for occupiers to move into. We are now actively seeking tenants for the units and continue to promote the many opportunities offered by the park.

Simon Burton, chair of Suffolk Chamber in Bury St Edmunds, said: “Suffolk Park is tangible proof of the buoyancy of the local Bury St Edmunds economy both now and in the immediate future. Suffolk Chamber in Bury St Edmunds has championed this and other business parks in the area which will help boost the capacity of existing businesses and act as a magnet for further inward investment.”

The development is part of a multi-partner initiative with St Edmundsbury Borough Council and housebuilder Taylor Wimpey to support a range of new and existing businesses in the Bury St Edmunds area and to continue to create jobs and prosperity.
