A former convenience shop in a Suffolk village has been sold, after the closure of the business.
The premises in the village of Lawshall, eight miles south of Bury St Edmunds, included an upstairs flat and had been on the market with Barker Storey Matthews (BSM).
Though the price of the transaction for the freehold at 52 The Glebe has not been revealed, it had been marketed at £175,000 and the agent reported strong demand for properties priced at sensible levels given the lack of similar village premises available.
The new owner is looking to refurbish the property and improve its energy performance to raise it to the standard for letting, said BSM.
Steven Mudd of the agents’ Bury St Edmunds office said: “The cooling of residential freehold prices does not appear to have affected the commercial market in Bury St Edmunds and its surrounding villages.”
