REGIONAL train operator One and East of England Tourism held a joint celebration to honour 80 members of the train company's award-winning on-board catering team who have achieved success in the tourism body's Welcome Host Plus training courses.

The courses form part of East of England Tourism's Welcome to Excellence accreditation programme which aims to recognise high standards of service and hospitality across the travel and tourism industries, to ensure that visitors to the region receive a warm reception.

Certificates were presented to the successful staff by Andrew Goodrum, mainline business director at One, and Keith Brown, chief executive of East of England Tourism.

Mr Goodrum said: “The partnership with East of England Tourism is helping to further develop our commitment to excellent standards of customer service.

“Both our organisations share a passion in promoting the region and in welcoming the thousands of visitors and tourists who travel by train with One railway. We are looking forward to extending the scheme throughout our on-board catering team and to other parts of our business.”

One, whose partnership with the tourism body has already seen a Class 90 mainline locomotive named “Let's Go East of England”, will also now fly Welcome to Excellence flags.
