MORE than 50 firms were represented at latest Articulate HLC/Suffolk Federatino of Small Businesses breakfast event, which was held at the Wattisham Flying Station.

Colonel Neale Moss, station commander, spoke to guests in the Officers’ Mess about the role of the base in the community and about the Afghan Appeal Fund (AAF), run by family and friends of UK soldiers to help the people of Afghanistan, particularly children.

Jenna Cox of creative agency Articulate HLC, who organised the event in association with Suffolk FSB, said: “All those from the Suffolk business community who attended should be proud that more than 500 was donated, through this breakfast, to AAF.”

“Having found out about the appeal and Wattisham’s involvement through some branding work Articulate HLC did to help raise awareness of the AAF, it occurred to me that there were too many people out there who didn’t know about this amazing charity and the work being done by our serving soldiers, despite everything else that is going on in Afghanistan.

“Also, I realised that many people had misconceptions/preconceptions about Wattisham’s place in the community.”

She added: “Col Moss and everyone we dealt with at Wattisham were immensely supportive and keen to show that they do care about their place as a part of Suffolk life.

“Attendees were treated to a superb talk by the Station Commander that covered the charity, the work of the Apache forces and integration within the community. It went so well, in fact, that we have been invited back!”
