Demand for firewood across the country is set to soar again this winter, against a backdrop of volatile energy prices and the appeal of open fires and wood burning stoves, said John Wootton of Savills estate management team in East Anglia. It was an “excellent” opportunity to secure revenue from woodland, he added.
“We have seen unprecedented sales of firewood across the local estates we manage and with the popularity of wood as the fuel of choice, this demand seems set to continue over the winter months,” he said. “Clients have witnessed customers turning away from oil, electricity and gas towards cheaper and indeed greener options.”
