A crisp maker based on a potato farm in Essex is celebrating after scooping the runner-up prize at an awards event.

Fairfields Farm Crisps, based in Wormingford, near Colchester, wa named runner up in the Crisp category of the Farm Produce Awards 2014.

“We are really proud to add another accolade to our wall,” said Fairfields Farm Crisps founder, and third-generation potato farmer, Robert Strathern.

“The crisp market is hugely competitive, with so many high quality products on offer, to be named one of the best is a huge honour.

“Since we opened our own factory in 2012, we’ve been able to develop more new flavours and meet the demands of our customers who are always looking for something new. This ability to adapt to different tastes is allowing us to remain competitive in the crisp market.”

The panel of judges described Fairfields Farm Crisps as “very crunchy with good flavours that don’t taste artificial. They have great provenance and are made by a company who seem to really care about their crisps.”
