FIREFIGHTERS were today called to several fires in the Ipswich area including one in a busy shopping centre.

At 12.10pm a crew from Princes Street station attended a hedge fire in Roundwood Road.
Three crews from the same station were then called at 12.37pm to the Buttermarket shopping centre where a fire had started in a light fitting. Using CO2 extinguishers, firefighters were able to control the flames by 1.08pm.
At 2.45pm another Prince Street crew attended Epsom Drive for a wheelie bin fire which had spread to the guttering on a nearby house.
A bush fire in Ellencroft Road then alerted Princes Street firefighters at 2.49pm. The small area of undergrowth was extinguished shortly after 3pm.
