Race lovers are being encouraged to get behind this weekend’s Relay for Life in Colchester.

Loop Voice & Data, based at Severalls Business Park, is sponsoring the event, which is being held at Colchester Garrison Athletics Track on Saturday night.

The event sees teams of between eight and 15 family and friends walk around the track for the night and into Sunday morning.

Loop Voice & Data founder and managing director, Shahram Bagherzadeh, said: “Relay For Life is an empowering way for people to come together against cancer, fundraising for life-saving research and celebrating the resilience of cancer survivors. We’re delighted to be sponsors this year and encourage everyone to get involved.”

In its five years the Colchester event has raised more than £130,000 for Cancer Research UK. This year organisers aim to reach a £35,000 fundraising target.

Ken Taylor, logistics and sponsorship chairman for Relay for Life, said: “Relay For Life is a volunteer-led event and the support of sponsors, like Loop Voice & Data, is greatly appreciated.

“Cancer is likely to touch us all through our family and friends. Sadly this is very true, but with the support of Loop Voice & Data and the Colchester community, we will be getting closer to the day when cancer will just be a word in the dictionary.”
