DETECTIVES are appealing for information to help their investigation after a pensioner had money stolen from his home in Stowmarket while he was distracted by a young man.

The distraction burglary happened in Hillside at about 5.30pm on Wednesday when a resident in his 80s answered a knock at the door and was confronted by a young man.

The pensioner was encouraged to go into the back garden of the property and while he was distracted outside the property a second offender got into his home, stealing cash, before both left along Hillside.

The first man is described as a white 16-year-old with a skinny build, about five feet six inches tall with short light brown hair, dark eyes. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a faded green long sleeved sweatshirt.

The second man was a white 17-year-old, about five feet eight inches tall with dark brown brushed back hair. He also had a local accent, was unshaven, and wearing a long sleeved brown jumper and light blue jeans.

Police are appealing for anyone who knows anything about the incident, or who may have been in the area at the time and have useful information, to call Stowmarket CID on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
