A SURPRISE addition has popped up at a zoo in Cambridge.
The rare albino red-necked wallaby was born at Linton Zoo to parents Kylie and Jason.
The new arrival was a total surprise for keepers when it popped its head out of the pouch for the first time on Friday, February 8.
The newborn is the first albino wallaby born at the zoo – red-necked wallabies are usually grey-brown in colour.
Albino animals lack pigment for colouring which means the little joey has pink eyes and will have white fur.
The zoo believes its wallabies are probably descended from the original white wallabies given as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II while on a state visit to Australia in 1962.
Many visitors have already been lucky enough to sneak a peak at the new baby as he often pops his head out during the noon feeding time.
Visitors and staff are discussing what to call the newborn, with names like Snowy, Snow Flake or Frosty high on the list.
