NORWICH goalkeeper David Marshall has been fined after he was convicted of not having a television licence.

The 23-year-old, a Scotland international, was fined £800 and ordered to pay £60 costs by Norwich magistrates.

A TV Licensing spokesman said an inquiry officer had found Marshall watching television without a licence.

“We have a sophisticated database of more than 29 million addresses across the UK so we can see - at the touch of a button - whether or not properties are unlicensed,” he said.

“We have also introduced high-tech handheld devices which we use alongside the fleet of detector vans.”
