Murals designed by Suffolk schoolchildren will be covering a new war memorial ahead of its unveiling.

Year 10 pupils from East Bergholt High School showed off their new mural boards to South Suffolk MP James Cartilidge. The boards are due to be used to the protect Capel St Mary’s war memorial until it is dedicated on November 11 to mark the 100th anniversary of the World War One Armistice.

Mr Cartlidge said: “I was enormously impressed by the work of the East Bergholt High School students.

“Their murals are a fitting tribute to those that sacrificed their lives for their country, and raise awareness of this fantastic community project ahead of the monument’s unveiling in November.”

Once the memorial is unveiled the boards will form an important part of a World War One exhibition in Capel Community centre before being returned to the school.
