A MAN and a woman had a lucky escape this afternoon when the car they were travelling in collided with a tree on the A12.
The accident happened on the north-bound carriageway close to the slip-road for Marks Tey around 4.15pm.
A man in his 20s suffered head, neck and pelvic injuries and was airlifted to Colchester General Hospital.
The female passenger suffered minor injuries and following care on the scene, was taken to Colchester General by ambulance.
John Nicholls, clinical manager with the East of England Ambulance Service, said: “From an operational point of view, it was a fairly straightforward job as the pair were not trapped.
“Bearing in mind the extent of damage to the car, they are extremely lucky not to have been more seriously injured.”
