Emergency services took a man to hospital after he crashed his car into a tree on a road near the A12.

Police were called shortly after 10.05am on Wednesday, December 19 to the village of Wrentham, near Southwold after a Ford Ka collided with a tree.

The car was found off the B1127 road which leads to Henstead, just before the A12 junction.

The East of England Ambulance Service arrived minutes after Suffolk police and assessed the man who was driving the car.

They were unsure of the exact nature of injuries the driver had sustained but have reported that they were conscious and breathing.

The motorist was later taken to James Paget University Hospital to receive further treatment.

The road was briefly closed following the crash but re-opened at 11.30am.

Recovery vehicles were called and the Suffolk Constabulary left the scene soon after.

The accident did not affect the traffic.
