A Suffolk care home has issued tips to cope with the warm weather.

Mills Meadow in Framlingham is asking people to be aware older people can suffer dehydration and health issues in the hot conditions.

Home manager Marie Reeve said: “It’s easy to forget that a time which is novel for most in the population can be difficult for some, so we’re encouraging the people of Framlingham to adopt and share our top tips.”

Tips include making a drink part of a social activity, saving strenuous activities, such as chores, for cooler periods of the day, using a clear glass and straw to help boost fluid consumption and serving foods that are high in sugar. Ms Reeve also suggests making drinks look appealing with a slice of lemon, taking sport drink bottle when out and about. Relatives are advised to take a note of their loves ones’ preferences, such as their favourite cup or glass, and try to keep track of how much they are drinking.
