Sudbury was lit up with a colourful procession which weaved its way through the town for a carnival extravaganza.
Returning for the second year in a row, after a break of more than 20 years, thousands of people visited the west Suffolk town.
The float procession started at Alexandra Road at 12.30pm earlier today before travelling through the town.
Then a myriad of more than 30 stalls, a fairground, children’s activities and family fun, opened up on the Delphi Club grounds. Sudbury mayor and carnival committee chairman Jack Owen thanked all the volunteers for making the event possible.
“It’s been brilliant, people have been saying how much they have enjoyed the procession which was about 20 floats strong,” he said.
“The float winner, picked by the judges, was Cancer Research UK; second was the Gypsy Tractor and Trailer; third was Ceroc Dancers.
“It’s been lots of hard work and we have put on a pretty good show. People have spoken about how much they have enjoyed the event.”
A meeting to discuss next year’s carnival is already coming up. No date has yet been given but Mr Owen appealed for more volunteers. Anyone who is interested can call Mr Owen on 07758 673450.
