FIRE crews were called to attend a crash on the A12 at Ardleigh in Essex overnight.

FIRE crews were called to attend a crash on the A12 at Ardleigh in Essex overnight.

It was thought that petrol had spilled onto the road and there were casualties trapped following the collision involving three cars between junction 27 and 29 on the A12 London-bound carriageway just after midnight.

Everyone had been released by the time the crews from Manningtree, Colchester, Ipswich and Wivenhoe arrived and they then made the road safe before leaving the scene at 12.20am.

One person was taken to Colchester Hospital with minor injuries.
