Firefighters were called to a home in Springfield Road in the early hours.

It was reported that a house was full of smoke and two fire crews were sent the property at 3.18am.

When the crews arrived they had to force entry into the house.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said a cat was rescued from the blaze and given oxygen therapy.

Using two hosereels, the firefighters made the blaze safe by 4.45am.
