Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to identify after a vulnerable woman had her handbag snatched in Bury St Edmunds.

The incident happened around 11.20am on Saturday, May 23, on a footpath behind the Spring Lane nature reserve.

The woman was on a mobility scooter when was approached from behind by a man who stole her handbag out of her front basket.

The man then ran off towards Beetons Way.

A male member of the public on a bicycle chased the offender after witnessing the incident.

He retrieved the bag where it was found that a mobile phone and cash were missing.

The offender is described as white, of slim build, aged in his early 20s, and wearing a blue amd grey hooded top with ‘light blue and dark blue patched’ jeans.
