Famous writer Richard Curtis, who is currently filming a new film in Suffolk which stars our very own pop superstar Ed Sheeran, paid tribute to the county in a recent interview.

Speaking to Screen Suffolk, the county’s film office, Curtis said: “If you work in Suffolk you know you’re going to have a good time, people are going to be cooperative, people are going to be delightful and friendly.

“The amazing thing about Suffolk is just how it looks. It’s such a beautiful county. If you live here you get really used to the unbelievable beaches, the curve of the land, the beauty of the villages.

“It seems to me that if you’re making a movie about England you can find everything you want and more here.”

To make sure people are kitted out for the big day, a Suffolk Day shop has been launched, selling all sorts of county-themed merchandise.

Businesses are also being encouraged to get involved by purchasing an exclusive Suffolk Day celebration pack, which features bunting, flags, posters, balloons and stickers – all in the traditional Suffolk colours of blue and gold.

Brad Jones, Editor of the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star, said: “This is your chance to show your support for our amazing county. Why not celebrate all that is good about Suffolk with your work colleagues, friends or family.”
