Braintree’s Green Team received certificates to celebrate their achievements in boosting their employability this week.
Over the past 12 weeks, members of the group have used their horticulture, health and safety and construction skills at various sites across Essex, including conservation work at the old duck pond in Forest Road, Witham, and improvements to the outdoor area at Wulversford Shops.
All eight volunteers will be awarded City & Guilds qualifications in practical horticulture and employability skills, and will now sit the test for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card to boost their career and apprenticeship prospects.
Cllr Tom Cunningham, cabinet member for economic development at Braintree District Council, said: “We’re passionate about giving young people in the Braintree District opportunities to reach their potential.
“I’m very proud of all those who have taken part in the project which is a creative way to get young people into work.”
