THE Sky TV cameras will be in Manchester tonight to see two of speedway’s most famous clubs go head to head in the Elite League.

However, the travel chaos currently sweeping the skies of Europe means both sides hardly resemble their original 2010 line-ups.

Witches stars Robert Miskowiak and Dawid Stachyra are still not back in England, while the Aces rode at Coventry on Friday night, minus their top two riders Hans Andersen and Peter Karlsson, as well as Patrick Hougaard, all stranded in Denmark.

And still all three will be missing tonight, with Coventry’s Chris Harris guesting for Andersen, Simon Stead for Karlsson and rider replacement being used for Hougaard.

Ironically Ipswich’s Scott Nicholls came to the rescue of the Aces to captain them to victory at Coventry on Friday, as a guest replacement for Andersen, top-scoring with 14 points.

But tonight Nicholls is firmly back in Witches colours and will hope his side can at least pick up a point as they begin to get their League season up and running.

The Aces have been in good form so far this campaign and are boosted tonight by the inclusion of Ipswich loanee Tobi Kroner.

He makes his debut for the Aces, replacing the injured Charlie Gjedde, after failing to gain a place at Foxhall in the winter.

Belle Vue boss Chris Morton said: “Kroner managed to get one of the last Eurostar tickets and lives close enough in Germany to be able to get here.

“He is desperate to get into action for us after missing what would have been his debut at Coventry. Fortunately, his bikes were brought over last week before the volcano eruption started.”

Another rider with Ipswich connections, Leigh Lanham, has been positively flying round the Manchester track in recent weeks and would no doubt enjoy another big haul tonight. Without Miskowiak and Stachyra, the Witches will go with the same team which beat Eastbourne on Thursday night, with rider replacement for Miskowiak and Ritchie Hawkins retaining his position in reserve.

Tonight’s meeting is live on Sky Sports 2, 7.30pm
