A BOGUS caller visited three houses claiming to be collecting for the Red Cross.

Police have urged residents to be vigilant after three residents in Trinity Avenue in Mildenhall were visited by the man on Tuesday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “The man called at houses in Trinity Avenue at around 3.30pm claiming to be collecting donations for the Red Cross, however he does not work for the charity.

“He said he would return in a few weeks. He is described as of mixed race, 5 foot 6 inches tall, unshaven with short hair and was wearing jeans and a black leather jacket.”

Anybody uncertain about the identity of a caller should not let them in and contact police.
