A Bury St Edmunds school boy has had his hair shaved off for charity by a woman who lost her mother to a brain tumour.
Connie Gibbs, the daughter of Zena Butcher, gave Harry Price, 11, a new hair style during an assembly at Westley Middle School.
He has raised £600 for St Nicholas Hospice Care, which supported Zena during her six-year battle with the illness, and also the Zena 10 campaign, which to date has raised £56,725 for the hospice.
Connie said: “It’s really good of Harry to let me do this, my mum would have been proud of him. I think he has raised a fantastic amount of money in a short time.”
Zena died in 2005 from a malignant brain tumour, aged 37.
Some of the money raised from the Zena 10 fundraising campaign, launched by her family, has gone to the hospice’s children and young people’s bereavement programme, Nicky’s Way, which Connie has since received help from.
