A brand new pub and hotel opened its doors in Dovercourt this morning (Tuesday, March 28), with the promise of bringing a boost to the town’s economy.
The Bottle Kiln welcomed the public at the new premises in Kingsway after being converted into its new form at the former site of the Co-op furniture store.
Pub operator JD Wetherspoon has spent more than £2.5million developing the building and up to 60 jobs will be created by the new business.
Councillor Dave McLeod, of Harwich Town Council, said: “It’s excellent news for the town, especially the town centre.
“We need to welcome Wetherspoon with open arms, we have lost two of our major hotels.
“It will be a breath of fresh air in the town.”
The Bottle Kiln was officially opened by retired Harwich firefighter, Les Nicoll, and has just been given the all-clear for new signage and branding at the premises.
