An 18-year-old man from Chelmsford has been arrested on suspicion of assault and dangerous cycling following an accident between a bus and a pedal cyclist on Saturday.

The collision in North Avenue on Saturday morning left a 90-year-old male bus passenger with serious head injuries. The casualty, from Chelmsford, remains in the intensive care unit at Queen’s Hospital in Romford in a stable, but very serious condition.

The man arrested is currently in police custody.
