Firefighters in Essex have tackled two house fires.
Two crews from Chelmsford were sent to a property in Brook Hill, Little Waltham after reports of an oven on fire. On arrival the incident commander reported that a quarter of the ground floor of the house was alight and the entire floor smoke logged.
Using one hose reel jet crews extinguished the fire just before 1.30pm. They then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the house.
A fire engine from Colchester and one from Wivenhoe were called to a fire in the bedroom of a terraced house in Queen Mary Avenue, Colchester. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire by 1.15pm.
