A mobile phone app has helped police to arrest a suspected burglar.

Essex Police used the app to locate a mobile phone, which had been taken from a property in Partridge Avenue, Chelmsford, yesterday.

Officers arrested a man and have since charged him with burglary.

Ian Slater, 39, of Pembroke Place, Chelmsford is due before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today.

“He was arrested at around 2.45am yesterday after officers used an app to locate a phone taken from a property in Partridge Avenue,” a police spokesman said.
