FIREFIGHTERS used specialist cutting equipment to free a police officer from his car following an accident.
The collision happened shortly after 5pm today in Springfield Road, at the junction with Tyrells Close, Chelmsford.
Crews from Chelmsford and Colchester used specialist cutting equipment to free the officer from his vehicle by 6.05pm.
He was left in the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital.
A spokesman for Essex Police said his injuries were not serious.
