A teenage motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital with “life-threatening” head injuries after a crash in north-east Essex.
The 17-year-old was involved in a collision with a black Skoda Superb in New London Road at the junction with Anchor Street in Chelmsford today at around 1.45pm.
The rider, from the Chelmsford area, sustained “serious head injuries” and was taken by air ambulance to Queens Hospital in Romford, an Essex Police spokesman said.
His condition at the hospital was later described as life-threatening, the force spokesman added.
The driver of the car was a man from Chelmsford.
New London Road was closed until about 5pm while police carried out initial investigations.
Witnesses or people with information relating to this incident are urged to call police on 101.
