Gary Watts, 47, from Manor Road in Grays was sentenced to 12 years and Michael Davis, 40, from West Avenue, Chelmsford, received ten years for GBH with intent. They were sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 23 for their part in the assault of a man, in his 50s, at a property in Murchison Close, Chelmsford, on June 24, 2013.

Dc Martin Amundsen said: “I would like to thank the public for coming forward and assisting detectives with this investigation, which was a very nasty assault on the man.

“There is, however, a third suspect outstanding. We know there are potential witnesses who may be reluctant to come forward but knowing these two men have now received prison sentences may give them some reassurance to tell us what they know and provide us with the name of the third person involved in the assault.”

Police are appealing for members of the public to name a third person suspected of being involved in the assault.

Anyone with information should contact Dc Amundsen at Chelmsford CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
