A dog-owner ran away after his dog bit a 5-year-old boy on the arm in Bury St Edmunds.

The attack happened between 3.30pm and 3.50pm last Friday in Spring Lane.

The boy was with other children and parents heading towards Tayfen Meadows where they encountered a man walking a dog, which is then reported to have bitten the child on the arm. The dog and its owner then ran off in the direction of Risbygate Street.

A Suffolk police spokesman said the child was treated at the doctor’s surgery for a slight puncture wound to the arm .

The dog is described as being ‘husky’ type, with its handler described as white, bald and wearing brown clothing.
