Christmas shopping can be a challenge but with a wealth of craft fairs and Christmas markets taking place in Suffolk in coming weeks you could pick up some unique presents for your loved ones.

Here is our guide to Christmas shopping this season.

Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23

Ipswich Christmas Market - More than 60 stalls will set up in the Princes Street, Giles Square, Buttermarket and Queen Street areas of Ipswich town centre under the glistening Christmas lights. There will be a food court by the Giles Statue and a variety of street entertainment throughout the weekend.

Saturday, November 22

Stratford St Mary - The Not on the High Street Christmas Fair takes place at The Institute Hall between 10.30am and 3pm. You will be able to track down the perfect Christmas gifts for your relatives, gifts that you won’t find in any high street store.

Stalls will offer unique and locally made Christmas gifts.

Mendlesham - There will be a Christmas Gift and Craft Fair at the Mendlesham Community Centre, doors open at midday.

Avoid the stress and hassle of Christmas shopping instead enjoy some relaxed shopping.

Long Melford - Handmade and contemporary jewellery, soft furnishings, homeware, pottery and prints will be on sale at the Christmas craft and designs at The Old School.

With over 45 stalls, this event will offer shoppers a wonderful choice of gifts and visitors can also enjoy tea and cakes, served in vintage style crockery, at Plum Fairy’s Vintage Tearoom.

Thursday, November 27 to Sunday, November 30

Bury St Edmunds - The Christmas Fair will extend from the historic Angel Hill, Abbey Gardens, Athenaeum, Hatter Street and Moyses Hall Museum into the Apex, Arc shopping centre and the Buttermarket, and comprise 300 stalls selling gifts, crafts, food and seasonal products. It will run alongside the regular market and there will be street entertainment and a true Christmas buzz about the town throughout the three days.

On the Thursday night many local stores will open late, there will be free refreshments and discounts on fairground rides plus free parking.

Friday, November 28

Risby - The Risby Christmas Shopping Spectacular gets underway at 2pm, and offers a wealth of stalls from local craftspeople and businesses.

The fair will be held at the village hall in Alymer Close.

Saturday, November 29

Felixstowe - A Christmas craft market will be held around Hamilton Road and Felixstowe Triangle Canopy from 10am, carol singers will offer seasonal entertainment and Santa will be taking orders in his grotto.

Wickham Market - Shop Local this Christmas at Wickham Market Festive Fayre being held in the Wickham Market Village Hall from 10am.

Organised by residents, the event will showcase the talents of crafters and sellers from east Suffolk. There will be vintage stalls, charity sellers, talented crafters, and a pop-up tea room.

Sunday, November 30

Woodford - The Luxury Christmas and Lifestyle Show comes to Seckford Hall Hotel. There will be a pop-up fashion shop and fashion show, a raffle and dozens of stalls selling various items will be among the attractions during the event at the hotel, near Woodbridge.

Snape Maltings - The Cool Yule Festive Market a will feature a wide selection of traders selling a mix of vintage seasonal gift ideas, and local craftspeople and artisans.

Friday, December 5 to Sunday December 7

Lavenham - The Market Place will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland with the lights switch on on Friday night.

A Dickensian-themed traditional Christmas fair will span the three days with donkey rides, Santa’s grotto, live music, festive stalls, a lantern walk and of course Christmas stalls.

Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7

Wherstead - A Giant Christmas Fayre will be held at Jimmy’s Farm, near Ipswich. There will be a huge selection of gifts on sale, celebrity chefs, food stalls and live music. Plus the butchery will be open and stocked with turkeys and everything you need for the big day.

Sunday, December 7

Woodbridge Christmas Street Fair - Stalls will line the bustling Thoroughfare and Cumberland Street selling a range of gifts and festive food. The stalls will be open between 10am and 5pm, and shoppers will be spoilt for choice.
