Organisers of the Sudbury Christmas Tree Festival are hoping to make this year’s event the biggest yet.

The festival, which is in its 16th year and is organised by Sudbury Rotary Club, will take place between Wednesday, December 5, and Sunday, December 9.

As well as creating an eye-catching and magical spectacle for visitors, the event also provides a showcase for charities, businesses, schools and churches in the town.

Applications to decorate a tree are welcome and can be obtained from Sudbury Tourist Information Centre in the library.

Organisers are aiming to have 100 trees on display at St Peter’s this year, which would be largest number yet.

Hundreds of people are expected to visit the festival, including groups of school pupils from the local area.

The beneficiaries of this year’s Christmas tree festival will be East Anglian Air Ambulance, the Richmond Fellowship and Sudbury Befriending.
