Two men have been arrested in connection with three linked assaults in Chelmsford last night,
Police were called shortly after 6pm on Friday June 6 following a report that a man had been assaulted by two other men at an address in Kings Road.
At about 7.30pm officers were then called to three men fighting in the street at West Avenue.
During the fight one man received a serious injury and is still being treated in hospital.
The third incident then happened a few minutes later in Cowell Avenue when a man assaulted a woman in her home.
Police have arrested a man, 45, of no fixed address on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and a Clacton man, 28, was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and theft.
Detectives are linking the three incidents, and anyone with information should contact Chelmsford CID on 101.
