CREWS have spent more than half an hour tackling a house fire in north Essex.

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service were called just after 9.40pm today (April 12) to a derelict house in Austin Avenue, Clacton.

Two appliances from Clacton attended. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two jets to tackle the blaze.

The fire was under control by 10.25pm. Crews then used a high pressure fan to clear the building of smoke.

A fire investigation has been launched. No-one was injured in the blaze.
