A brass door key left at the scene of a burglary in Essex is thought to represent the possible next target.
Detectives in Clacton attended a property in First Avenue after burglars stolen a MacBook, charger and wallet having gained entry via a rear ground floor fan light sometime overnight between Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14.
Dc Bernadette Lord said: “A brass door key was left at the scene and we are keen to talk to anyone who has lost their key recently as this could have been acquired by the burglars and that property may have been the next target.”
The wallet and cards were recovered along Clacton seafront the following morning by a dog walker.
Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Clacton on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
