Four men were rescued after their speedboat capsized off the Essex coast.

Clacton lifeguard pulled the men to safety after their boat began sinking around 200 metres from Jaywick beach at 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

A Sea King rescue helipcopter from RAF Wattisham landed on Martello beach and two of the men were flown to Colchester General Hospital - one with a suspected broken leg and another with mild hypothermia.

The two other men, one of which was also thought to be suffering from hypothermia, were driven by ambulance to Colchester General.

A spokesman for RAF Wattisham said the crew were diverted to the scene after taking a female diver to James Paget University Hospital in Gorelston with a suspected case of the bends. She was treated in a decompression chamber after being rescued off the coast of Lowestoft.
