A man was robbed as he was walking along the seafront in Clacton on Friday night.
Detectives investigating the incident, which happened between 9pm and 10pm in Marine Parade, are appealing for witnesses.
The 32-year-old victim was walking to his home in Jaywick from town after a night out. He was pushed from behind and punched by two men in a group of about five.
He fell to the ground and the carrier bag he was holding was snatched from his hand. It contained a newly purchased mobile phone and his wallet was taken from his pocket.
The wallet was black leather with the name of the victim’s grandfather inscribed inside. The man sustained a cut to his cheek.
He described the main suspect as wearing a black hoodie and grey tracksuit trousers.
Anyone with any information about the incident or anyone who finds the wallet is asked to contact Dc Linda Whiting at Clacton CID on 101.
