Clacton will commemorate the 73rd anniversary of VJ Day, by holding a service on the seafront.
The service will acknowledge the end of the war in the Pacific and victory over Japan – which marked the final end of the Second World War.
It will take place on Wednesday, August 15 and be staged in the Memorial Gardens, overlooking where wreaths will be laid by numerous organisations and groups.
The service will be hosted by the Royal British Legion and assisted by Tendring District Council. It is open for everyone to attend.
The War Memorial will be led by Rev Phil Sacre, with Tendring District Council Chairman Mark Platt reading Psalm 46.
Mr Platt said: “This service of commemoration allows us to remember those who lost their lives during the conflict in the Far East, whether they be UK, Commonwealth or Allied soldiers, as well as those they fought against.”
