A MAJOR rescue operation began on Saturday in Clacton after two men jumped off the pier.
One of the men was picked up by Clacton’s beach patrol at around 4.30 while two RNLI boats and an RAF helicopter were called to search for the second man who had reportedly swum under the pier and got ashore on the eastern side. He was later found in a local pub.
