A plethora of fairground items from the hey-day of seaside towns including penny slot machines and six-foot standing characters will be going on sale at Reeman Dansie Auctions, on Wednesday, March 15.

Items that would have once-upon-a-time sat proudly on Walton and Clacton piers will be up for auction in Colchester and available to collectors at an estimated price of £100-150 each.

Characters for sale include Bugs Bunny, Minnie and Mickey Mouse and Muffin the Mule.

Michael Bowles, who is organising the sale, said: “Obviously in that area Clacton was a very busy seaside town and there would have been a lot of amusement arcades.

“We has a consignment two to three years ago that made an absolute fortune.”

Talking about this latest sale of vintage amusement items, he added: “This is something a bit different. This is particularly a collectors sale, it’s something perhaps a little more obscure. It’s great fun.”

For anyone interested in bidding the sale will be held at Reeman Dansie Auctions, Colchester on Wednesday, March 15.
