FOUR people had to be rescued and bought ashore this afternoon while sailing in the sea off Clacton.

The resort’s lifeboat and the inshore vessel had to be tasked on two occasions within a few minutes following 999 calls to the coastguards.

The first was at 15.04pm when two people were reported to have fallen overboard while sailing their dinghies close to Gunfleet Sailing Club. However, the club’s rescue vessel bought them ashore.

Sixteen minutes later they were sent out again when two boys, aged 14 and 12, capsized their dinghies at Holland Haven.

They were bought ashore by the inshore lifeboat.
