Convenience store staff were threatened with a piece of scaffold pole by a robber wearing a T-shirt over his face.
The robbery happened at the Best One shop in Clacton High Street at about 3pm yesterday.
A man threatened staff with what is thought to be a piece of scaffold pole and made off with a three figure sum of cash.
The man was white and wearing a thick black jacket, black jogging bottoms, a hat with ear flaps, sunglasses and a T-shirt tied over his face. He was also carrying a hessian-style Bag for Life with a ladybird design on it.
Detectives said the man entered and left the shop from the general direction of Holland-on-Sea. It is thought he ran off along Holland Road and into Harold Road.
