A WOMAN’S bag was snatched from her ground floor flat in what police are calling a “sneak burglary”.

The victim, described by officers as an elderly woman, had noticed recently that her bag had been stolen from inside her flat in Marine Parade, Clacton.

It was a brown leather handbag with a gilt clasp at the top, containing a similar purse with some cash and keys and a cheque book.

Dc Jo Mangham said: “It is horrible to think someone would steal from a very elderly lady in this way. Please contact me if you have anything that might help solve this nasty crime.”

A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: “If anyone has seen anything, or heard anything about someone coming by some money suddenly in the area, or has any sort of information, please contact Dc Mangham or her colleagues at Clacton CID on 101, or you can leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
